Bequita Pegram is an Educational Leadership doctoral student at Prairie View A&M University. Her research interest is mentoring and African American women. Out of her research on mentoring and African American women, Bequita founded Onyx Mentoring in August 2020 to empower African American women to live out their purpose in life. She shares her mentoring experience and knowledge with the African American Knowledge Community in NASPA by fulfilling the responsibilities of Mentoring Co-Chair.

An experienced secondary teacher, Bequita is currently sharing her passion for educational technology through teaching and service as an Adjunct History Professor at Lone Star College. After receiving her Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certification from the University of South Florida, she became an active member of the DEI committee on her campus.
